A Wintry Day


The cold grip of Winter touches each part of the body,
It sears through the trees and burns the landscape,
From the crisp blanket of white,
To the thin breath which taints its path,
Its touch can cause pain,
But its beauty is breathtaking

The night brings peace and silence,
And the occasional sigh of an icy breeze,
washes through the bones,
The Spring flowers struggle for existence,
Ever trying to outwit the chill,
Some prevail, some do not.

The trees are ever so fearless,
Feeling nothing but the strain of age,
They creak and groan as the wind cautiously pushes,
But remain a monument of time,
It soon will pass, and life is reborn,
Until next time it comes...
